Simply Misunderstood XO

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always wanted to be the Spice Girls for Halloween! This year, that dream came true! ☺️🎤🎶✌🏼 It’s actually significant for more than one reason though… Because in this picture you may see a group of happy best friends dressed for Halloween, but you don’t know the story of how each of them got there.

All throughout middle and high school I had trouble making & keeping friends. I always had a few close ones but never enough for a group – which actually turned out to be a good thing because I usually wound up getting stabbed in the back by them anyway. It was rough, and I absolutely dreaded going to school some days for reasons a young girl shouldn’t be worried about. But, after being bullied, losing my mom, being backstabbed by my own family & enduring the worst breakup of my life, I somehow made it.

College was my saving grace & these were some of the girls that were a part of it. I wonder where friends like them have been all my life. Looking back, I would never wish what I went through upon my worst enemy. Depression, anger, lack of trust & anxiety are NOT things anyone should have to deal with, let alone a teenage girl! So my hope is that this picture is proof to all those little girls like me out there that life CAN get better. You CAN find friends for life. You CAN learn to trust again. It might not be in sight for you right now, but just hang in there! Despite all of the hate in the world, once you find your forever crew it’ll be easier to see the light. And you’ll appreciate it all that much more when you find it, trust me!
