I couldn’t agree with this more!
A lot of times when I ask my friends for advice I find myself listening to some of them more than others.
Not that their advice is invalid or I don’t trust them as a person, it’s just that I know it’s something they have experience with, so their advice might be the most helpful since they’ve been in similar situations before.
This can be applied to SO many situations in life.
I’ve been through a lot of heartbreak in life – haven’t we all? But when others come to me asking for advice in an area I have experience dealing with, I always am eager to step in and help! I truly give my best advice because I don’t want them to go through what I had to.
Now, whether they choose to follow through with the advice or not, that’s up to them. But they’ll eventually learn and have the wisdom and experience to help someone else later in life.
Just because our hearts have been broken doesn’t mean we have to try to repair them and move on forever. I believe we need to take those heartbreaks & turn them into lessons – lessons we can teach ourselves and others.
I recognize.. hey, I may have been thrown some shitty situations in life, but I try to turn them into something positive, like helping others in the same situation – telling them everything I wish I had known back when I was in their position.
