Thank You Eli

I didn’t wear his jersey often, but Eli Manning was always a constant in my world growing up.
⠀⠀
As a die-hard Giants fan, Eli is basically all I ever knew.
⠀⠀
As much as he got me frustrated when he made mistakes or threw interceptions, I knew we could ALWAYS count on him under pressure.
⠀⠀
Under a minute left to drive down the field and get a touchdown? Sure. There was no question!
⠀⠀
But what I now realize as someone who is starting to see some immature guys younger than myself start to play in the league (I’M GETTING OLD 🙈) Eli is literally a class act. 👏🏼 Both on and off the field.
⠀⠀
Sure he’s a goofball but he knows what he’s gotta do and always puts forth his best. He’s so humble, I think that’s what gets me about him.
⠀⠀
His quirky personality took me awhile to understand but now that I get it, and reflect back on all of the games I watched him play in, I understand just what the Giants franchise is losing.
⠀⠀
They’ll never be another like Eli.
⠀⠀
I‘ve been to probably hundreds of Giants games in my lifetime, but never did I stop and just soak in the fact that it might be the last time I see him on that field.
⠀⠀
It’s kinda like life. You just expect to live another day, breathe another breath, wake up another morning.
⠀⠀
Now I know to pay more attention to those moments — even in football.
⠀⠀
I’m grateful I got to grow up watching one of the best — helping us win TWO Super Bowls in my lifetime.
⠀⠀
I can’t imagine how tough it must be to finally walk away from something you’ve spent your entire life working for.
⠀⠀
But he’s done it with grace, pride, and dignity.
⠀⠀
I’ll miss that.
⠀⠀
#ThankYouEli ❤️💙
