After my mom died from ovarian cancer, I can’t tell you how many times I heard the phrases “you’re so strong” and ”I don’t know how you do it.” 🗯
⠀⠀
Well the truth is, I didn’t have a choice! And if you’ve ever been through any type of loss, girlfriend (or boyyyy) you know what I’m talking about! 🙌🏼
⠀⠀
I wasn’t strong before it happened. Heck I wasn’t even strong WHEN it happened! It was the physical act of living through the heartache 💔 which caused me to GROW strength. 🌱
⠀⠀
🖤 The heartache of never being able to witness those silly faces she’d make while on the phone again.
🖤The heartache of never getting to have a two-way conversation with her again.
🖤 The heartache of never being able give my own MOTHER a hug EVER again.
⠀⠀
…GOD that still hurts to think about.😣 #cringeworthy
⠀⠀
STRENGTH wasn’t something I was just given or born with; I had to EARN it. It’s crazy to hear but if you really think about it, it’s the truth.
⠀⠀
And just like with every other struggle in life, what doesn’t kill you only makes you STRONGER! 💪🏼
⠀⠀
So THAT’S why I seem so strong. Because I’ve had to earn it time and time again.
⠀⠀
Something to think about when you start to realize the strength someone has…
💭 imagine what they’ve had to go through to build that strength.
⠀⠀
It’ll make you think twice. 😓🙏🏼
